But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].
Important: The Arabic source text is always authoritative. This translation is a study aid and has not been verified by scholars — do not use it as a basis for religious proof or for deriving rulings (ahkam). When in doubt, always consult the Arabic text and a qualified scholar.
وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ ("And as for the favour of your Lord, proclaim it"). He says: Mention it.
And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the scholars of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Yaʿqūb ibn Ibrāhīm related to me, saying: Hushaym related to us, on the authority of Abū Bishr, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His statement: وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ , he said: With the prophethood (nubuwwa).
Yaʿqūb related to me, saying: Ibn ʿUlayya related to us, saying: Saʿīd ibn Iyās al-Jurayrī related to us, on the authority of Abū Naḍra, who said: The Muslims were of the view that it is part of gratitude for favours that one speaks about them.
End of the interpretation of Surah al-Ḍuḥā, and to Allah belong praise and thanks.
