And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink."

His word: فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ("Then the Messenger of Allah said to them"). The Exalted, whose praise is sublime, means thereby: Ṣāliḥ, the Messenger of Allah — Allah's blessing and peace be upon him. Then Ṣāliḥ said to Thamūd: نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا ("The she-camel of Allah and her turn to drink") — beware of the she-camel of Allah and her turn to drink. And he warned them only concerning the she-camel's turn to drink, because they had already previously been informed, by the command of Allah, that the she-camel had the right to drink on one day, and they on another day, other than the day of the she-camel, as I have already expounded before.
And as Bishr related to me, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا — the portion of Allah that He has allotted for her from this water.
