Does he think that no one has seen him?

His statement: أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ ("Does he think that no one has seen him?"). The Exalted, whose praise is proclaimed, says: does this one who says أَهْلَكْتُ مَالا لُبَدًا ("I have squandered an immense wealth") suppose that no one saw him while he was spending it, since he claims that he has spent it?
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ ("Does he think that no one has seen him?"): O son of Ādam, truly, you will be questioned about this wealth: from where you acquired it and where you spent it.
Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of Qatāda, the like of it.
