فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَٰدِى

And enter among My [righteous] servants

    Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Khālid, on the authority of Abū Ṣāliḥ: irjiʿī ilā rabbiki rāḍiyatan marḍiyya (Return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing), he said: this is at death; fa-dkhulī fī ʿibādī (then enter among My servants), he said: this is on the Day of Resurrection.

    The correct of the two statements concerning that is the statement which we have mentioned on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās and al-Ḍaḥḥāk, namely that this is only said to them upon the return of the spirits into the bodies on the Day of Resurrection, because of the indication of His words: fa-dkhulī fī ʿibādī * wa-dkhulī jannatī (then enter among My servants and enter My Paradise).

    The scholars of exegesis differed concerning the meaning of that. Some of them said: the meaning of it is: enter among My righteous servants, and enter My Paradise.
