His statement: تَصْلَى نَارًا حَامِيَةً ("They will burn in a blazing Fire"). The Exalted, whose praise is proclaimed, says: these faces will enter a blazing Fire that has become hot and whose heat has become intense.
The Qurʾān reciters differ over the reading of this. Most of the reciters of Kūfa read it as ( تَصْلَى ) with a fatḥa on the tāʾ, with the meaning: the faces will burn. Abū ʿAmr, on the other hand, read this as ( تُصْلَى ) with a ḍamma on the tāʾ, by analogy with His statement: تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ ("They will be given to drink from a boiling spring"). And the ruling concerning this is that they are two readings, both of which are correct in meaning, so with whichever of the two the reciter recites, he has done correctly.
