And cushions lined up

His statement: وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ("and cushions set in rows"). By al-namāriq are meant: the cushions and the armrest-cushions. The singular of al-namāriq is numruqa, with a ḍamma on the nūn. It has been transmitted from some people of the tribe of Kalb, heard from their mouths, the form nimriqa, with a kasra on the nūn and the rāʾ. And it is said "set in rows" (maṣfūfa) because they stand next to one another.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning his statement: وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ ("and cushions set in rows"), and al-namāriq are: the cushions.
