    And His statement: ( وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ ) (and goblets, set ready) (88:14). This is the plural of "kūb," and these are the cups that have no handles. We have already expounded on that earlier and have cited the report concerning it in a manner that absolves us from repeating it.

    And by His statement ( مَوْضُوعَةٌ ) (set ready) is meant: that they are placed at the edge of the flowing spring, and whenever they wish to drink, they find them filled with the drink.

    وقوله: ( وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ ) وهي جمع كوب، وهي الأباريق التي لا آذان لها. وقد بيَّنا ذلك فيما مضى، وذكرنا ما فيه من الرواية بما أغنى عن إعادته. وَعُنِي بقوله: ( مَوْضُوعَةٌ ) : أنها موضوعة على حافة العين الجارية، كلما أرادوا الشرب وجدوها ملأى من الشراب.
