And carpets spread around.

And His words: وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ("and scattered carpets") (88:16) — the Exalted, whose mention is glorious, says: and therein are numerous rugs and carpets, scattered and spread out. Its singular is: zirbiyya, and that is the rug (al-ṭinfisa) with a fine, thin pile.
And in accordance with what we have said about that, the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

Aḥmad ibn Manṣūr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, he said: Tawba al-ʿAnbarī related to us, on the authority of ʿIkrima ibn Khālid, on the authority of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmmār, he said: I saw ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb — may Allah be pleased with him — praying upon an ʿabqarī, and those are the zarābī (carpets).
Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ ("and scattered carpets"): the spread-out (rugs).
