But the wretched one will avoid it -

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ("and he avoids it"), He says: and the reminder is avoided by الأشْقَى ("the most wretched"), namely: the most wretched of the two groups, الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَى ("who shall enter the greatest Fire"); and they are those whom the reminder did not profit.
And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His saying: فَذَكِّرْ إِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَى سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَخْشَى ("So remind, if the reminder profits; he who fears shall be reminded"): then fear Allah; never has a servant feared Allah but that he was mindful of Him. وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الأشْقَى ("and the most wretched avoids it"): no, by Allah, no servant turns away from this reminder out of aversion to it and out of hatred toward its people, except a wretched one whose wretchedness is manifest.
