Exposition of the interpretation of His statement, the Exalted: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ ("Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds, for them are gardens beneath which the rivers flow; that is the great triumph") (11).
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: Indeed, those who acknowledged the oneness of Allah — and they are this people who were burned by the People of the Trench (aṣḥāb al-ukhdūd), and the rest of all the adherents of [His] oneness — وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ ("and did righteous deeds"), He says: and acted in obedience to Allah, and submitted to His command, and refrained from what He forbade them, لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأنْهَارُ ("for them are gardens beneath which the rivers flow"), He says: for them in the Hereafter, with Allah, are pleasure-gardens beneath which flow the rivers, and the wine and the milk and the honey; ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ ("that is the great triumph"), He says: this which is for these believers in the Hereafter, that is the great victory, with what they strove for and sought through their faith in Allah in this worldly life, and their acting upon what Allah commanded them therein and with which He was pleased with them.
