﴿ إِلا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ ﴾ ("Except those who believe and do righteous deeds") — He says: except those among them who have repented and held to be true, and acknowledged His oneness, and the prophethood of His prophet Muḥammad — may Allah bless him and grant him peace — and the resurrection after death. ﴿ وعملوا الصالحات ﴾ ("and do righteous deeds") — He says: and who have performed the obligations imposed by Allah, and have refrained from committing that which Allah has forbidden them to commit.
And His saying: ﴿ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴾ ("for them is an undiminished reward") — He, exalted be His remembrance, says concerning these who have believed and done righteous deeds: a reward that is neither counted nor diminished.
And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the exegetes have spoken.
* A mention of who said that:
ʿAlī related to me, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His saying: ﴿ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴾ ("for them is an undiminished reward"), he says: undiminished.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His saying: ﴿ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ﴾ ("an undiminished reward"), that is to say: uncounted.
End of the exegesis of Surah ( إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ ) ("When the heaven is split asunder").
