And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?
Important: The Arabic source text is always authoritative. This translation is a study aid and has not been verified by scholars — do not use it as a basis for religious proof or for deriving rulings (ahkam). When in doubt, always consult the Arabic text and a qualified scholar.
His statement: وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لا يَسْجُدُونَ ("and when the Qurʾān is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves"). The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: and when the Book of their Lord is recited to them, they do not submit themselves nor bow down humbly. We have already expounded the meaning of prostration (al-sujūd) earlier, together with its supporting evidences, and that renders its repetition here unnecessary.
