وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ

And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

    Explanation of the saying of the Exalted: وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ (And when they passed by them, they would wink at one another in mockery) (83:30).

    The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: and these criminals were such that, when the believers passed by them, they would wink at one another. He says: the one would give the other a wink concerning the believer, out of mockery and derision toward him.

    القول في تأويل قوله تعالى : وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ (30) يقول تعالى ذكره: وكان هؤلاء الذين أجرموا إذا مرّ الذين آمنوا بهم يتغامزون؛ يقول: كان بعضهم يغمز بعضا بالمؤمن، استهزاء به وسخرية.
