It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed

His statement: يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ("The brought-near ones bear witness to it"). He says: bearing witness to that written book — which contains Allah's exemption of the righteous among His servants from the Fire, and his preservation and success with the Garden (janna) — are the brought-near ones among His angels from each heaven of the seven heavens.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

Muḥammad ibn Saʿd related to me, saying: my father related to me, saying: my uncle related to me, saying: my father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās: يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ("The brought-near ones bear witness to it"). He said: all the inhabitants of heaven.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning his statement: يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ("The brought-near ones bear witness to it"): from the angels of Allah.
It was related to me on the authority of al-Ḥusayn, saying: I heard Abū Muʿādh saying: ʿUbayd related to us, saying: I heard al-Ḍaḥḥāk saying concerning his statement: يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ("The brought-near ones bear witness to it"). He said: the brought-near ones among the inhabitants of each heaven bear witness to it.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning his statement: يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ("The brought-near ones bear witness to it"). He said: the angels.
