The statement concerning the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ("And none denies it except every transgressor, every sinner") (83:12).
The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: and none denies the Day of Judgment ( إِلا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ ) ("except every transgressor"), who has transgressed against Allah in his speech and thereby contradicted His command, ( أثِيمٍ ) ("sinner") toward his Lord.
As Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ("Woe on that Day to the deniers") (83:10); Allah said: ( وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ) ("And none denies it except every transgressor, every sinner"), that is to say: the Day of Judgment — none [denies it] except every transgressor in his speech, a sinner toward his Lord.
