And when the [contents of] graves are scattered,

( وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ ) ("And when the seas are burst forth") (82:3). He says: one part of it is made to flow into the other, so that they are all filled.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken, with disagreement among themselves over part of it.

ʿAlī related to me, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His statement: ( وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ ) ("And when the seas are burst forth"), he says: one part of it into the other.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His statement: ( وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ ) ("And when the seas are burst forth"): its fresh water is made to flow into the salt, and its salt into the fresh.
Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: Ibn Thawr related to us, on the authority of Maʿmar, on the authority of al-Ḥasan: ( وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ ) ("And when the seas are burst forth"), he said: one part of it is made to flow into the other, so that its water disappears. And al-Kalbī said: they were filled.
