Tafseer of He frowned · Abasa · 80:40
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.

And His words: ( وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ ) ("And on that Day there will be faces upon which dust lies"). Allah — exalted is His mention — says: ( وَوُجُوهٌ ) ("And faces") — and these are the faces of the unbelievers (kāfir) — upon which dust lies on that Day. It has been related that the animals which Allah will turn to dust on that Day, after judgment has been passed among them, He will transform that dust into dust upon the faces of the people of unbelief (kufr).
