Exalted and purified,

( فِي صُحُفٍ ) ("On scrolls"). He says: it is a reminder ( فِي صُحُفٍ مُكَرَّمَةٍ * مَرْفُوعَةٍ مُطَهَّرَةٍ ) ("on honored scrolls, exalted and purified"). By this is meant: on the Preserved Tablet (al-lawḥ al-maḥfūẓ), and that is the exalted and purified one with Allah.
