Tafseer of The Spoils of War · Al-Anfaal · 8:28

وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّمَآ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَأَوْلَٰدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌۭ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌۭ

And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allah has with Him a great reward.

    The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: And know that your possessions and your children are a trial, and that with Allah is a mighty reward (8:28).

    Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted says, exalted be His remembrance, to the believers: Know, O believers, that your possessions which Allah has entrusted to you, and your children whom Allah has bestowed upon you, are a trial and a tribulation (fitna). He has given them to you in order to test and try you thereby, so that He may see how you act regarding the fulfillment of the duty that Allah imposes upon you concerning them, and the observance of His command and His prohibition concerning them. = and that with Allah is a mighty reward, that is to say: know that with Allah is the good and a tremendous recompense, for your obedience to Him in that which He has commanded you and forbidden you, concerning your possessions and your children with which He has tried you in the worldly life. So obey Allah in that which He has obligated upon you concerning them, so that you may thereby obtain the abundant recompense of His reward upon your return.

    15934 - Al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz related to us, saying: al-Masʿūdī related to us, on the authority of al-Qāsim, on the authority of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, on the authority of Ibn Masʿūd, concerning His saying: Truly, your possessions and your children are a trial, he said: There is no one among you but that he is enveloped in a trial (fitna). So whoever among you seeks refuge, let him seek refuge with Allah against the misleading trials.

    15935 - Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said, concerning His saying: And know that your possessions and your children are a trial, he said: beproeving means the testing, their testing. And he recited: And We try you with evil and with good as a trial, and to Us you shall be brought back (Surah Al-Anbiyāʾ: 35).

    القول في تأويل قوله : وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ (28) قال أبو جعفر: يقول تعالى ذكره للمؤمنين: واعلموا، أيها المؤمنون، أنما أموالكم التي خوَّلكموها الله، وأولادكم التي وهبها الله لكم، اختبارٌ وبلاء، أعطاكموها ليختبركم بها ويبتليكم، لينظر كيف أنتم عاملون من أداء حق الله عليكم فيها، والانتهاء إلى أمره ونهيه فيها. (24) = " وأن الله عنده أجر عظيم "، يقول: واعلموا أن الله عنده خيرٌ وثواب عظيم، على طاعتكم إياه فيما أمركم ونهاكم، في أمولكم وأولادكم التي اختبركم بها في الدنيا . وأطيعوا الله فيما كلفكم فيها، تنالوا به الجزيل من ثوابه في معادكم. (25) 15934 - حدثني الحارث قال، حدثنا عبد العزيز قال، حدثنا المسعودي, عن القاسم, عن عبد الرحمن, عن ابن مسعود, في قوله: " إنما أموالكم وأولادكم فتنة "، قال: ما منكم من أحد إلا وهو مشتمل على فتنة, فمن استعاذ منكم فليستعذ بالله من مُضِلات الفتن. (26) 15935 - حدثني يونس قال، أخبرنا ابن وهب قال، قال ابن زيد, في قوله: " واعلموا أنما أموالكم وأولادكم فتنة "، قال: " فتنة "، الاختبار, اختبارُهم. وقرأ: وَنَبْلُوكُمْ بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ [سورة الأنبياء: 35] . -------------------- الهوامش : (24) انظر تفسير " الفتنة " فيما سلف ص : 486 ، تعليق : 1 ، والمراجع هناك .
