He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.

And His word: رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا ("He raised its vault and made it perfect") — the Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: He made the heaven even, so that no part of it is higher than another, and no part of it is lower than another, but the whole of it is even in loftiness and expanse.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have also spoken.

Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His word: رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا , he says: He raised its structure and made it perfect.
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, he said: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, he said: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, he said: al-Ḥasan related to us, he said: Warqāʾ related to us, both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His word: رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا , he said: He raised its structure without pillars.
ʿAlī related to me, he said: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, he said: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His word: رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا , he says: its structure.
