Tafseer of The Announcement · An-Naba · 78:30
"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."

And His statement: فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلا عَذَابًا ("So taste, for We will never increase you except in punishment (ʿadhāb)") (78:30). The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: to these unbelievers (kuffār) in Hell (jahannam), when they have drunk the boiling water and the foul pus, it will be said: taste, O people, of the punishment (ʿadhāb) of Allah which you used to deny in the worldly life, for We will never increase you except in punishment upon the punishment in which you already are — with no relief from it and no easing of it.
And Ibn Bashshār has already related to us, saying: Ibn Abī ʿAdī related to us, on the authority of Saʿīd, on the authority of Qatāda, on the authority of Abū Ayyūb al-Azdī, on the authority of ʿAbdallāh ibn ʿAmr, who said: no verse was sent down upon the inhabitants of the Fire more severe than this: فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلا عَذَابًا ("So taste, for We will never increase you except in punishment"). He said: so they are forever in increasing punishment.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلا عَذَابًا ("So taste, for We will never increase you except in punishment"). It has been transmitted to us that ʿAbdallāh ibn ʿAmr used to say: no verse was sent down upon the inhabitants of the Fire more severe than this: فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلا عَذَابًا ("So taste, for We will never increase you except in punishment"). So they are forever in an increase from Allah.
