ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةًۭ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ

Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]

    His statement: thumma kāna ʿalaqatan (then he was a clot of blood). The Exalted, praised be His mention, says: then he was blood, after he had been a drop of sperm, then a clot of blood (ʿalaqa), after which He fashioned him into a well-formed human being, speaking, hearing, seeing.

    وقوله: ( ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً ) يقول تعالى ذكره: ثم كان دما من بعد ما كان نطفة، ثم علقة، ثم سوّاه بشرًا سويا، ناطقا سميعا بصيرا.
