And the leg is wound about the leg,

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: wa-ẓanna annahu al-firāq ("and he realizes that it is the parting"), that is: he becomes certain that it is the parting.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said concerning His words: wa-ẓanna annahu al-firāq , he said: none of Allah's creatures can ward off death or deny it, but one does not know whether one will die of that illness or of something else. So "the supposition" (al-ẓann) here is as this [is meant].
