The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to His servants who are addressed by this Qurʾān and who prefer the splendor of the worldly life over the Hereafter: it is not as you say, O people, namely that you will not be resurrected after your death and will not be requited for your deeds. Rather, what has led you to say that is your love for the transient, immediate worldly life, and your preferring of its desires over the deferred Hereafter and its bliss. Thus you believe in the transient and deny the deferred.
