Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire

Ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā related to us, saying: al-Muʿtamir related to us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abū ʿAmr, on the authority of ʿIkrima, that the verse in which He said: ( إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالا وَجَحِيمًا ) (indeed, with Us are shackles and a blazing fire) — that the ankāl are shackles.
ʿUbayd ibn Asbāṭ ibn Muḥammad related to me, saying: Ibn Yamān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Abū ʿAmr, on the authority of ʿIkrima: ( إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالا ) — he said: shackles.
Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: Yaḥyā and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to us, he said: Sufyān related to us, saying: Abū ʿAmr related to us, on the authority of ʿIkrima: ( أَنْكَالا ) — he said: shackles.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Mihrān related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Abū ʿAmr, on the authority of ʿIkrima: ( إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالا ) — he said: shackles.
Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to us, saying: Sufyān related to us, saying: and it reached me on the authority of Mujāhid, he said: the ankāl are the shackles.
Ibn Ḥumayd related to us, saying: Ibn al-Mubārak related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Ḥammād, he said: the ankāl are the shackles.
Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsā al-Dāmaghānī related to me, saying: Ibn al-Mubārak related to us, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Ḥammād, the same.
Ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to us, saying: Sufyān related to us, saying: I heard Ḥammād say: the ankāl are the shackles.
Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda: ( إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالا ) — that is to say: shackles.
Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Wakīʿ related to us, on the authority of Mubārak, on the authority of al-Ḥasan, on the authority of Sufyān, on the authority of Abū ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ, on the authority of ʿIkrima: ( إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالا ) — he said: shackles.
Abū ʿUbayd al-Waṣṣābī Muḥammad ibn Ḥafṣ related to us, saying: Ibn Ḥumayr related to us, saying: al-Thawrī related to us, on the authority of Ḥammād, concerning His word: ( إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالا وَجَحِيمًا ) — he said: the ankāl are the shackles.
Saʿīd ibn ʿAnbasa al-Rāzī related to us, saying: I passed by Ibn al-Sammāk while he was narrating stories, and he said: I heard al-Thawrī say: I heard Ḥammād say concerning the word of Allah: ( إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالا ) — he said: black shackles from the fire of hell (jahannam).
And His word: ( وَجَحِيمًا ) — He says: and a blazing fire.
