Tafseer of The Enshrouded One · Al-Muzzammil · 73:10

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًۭا جَمِيلًۭا

And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.

    Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His words: "And bear patiently what they say, and shun them in a comely manner" — (Sūrah) Barāʾa (at-Tawba) abrogated what is stated here; it was commanded to fight them until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah; nothing other than that is accepted from them.

    حدثنا بشر، قال: ثنا يزيد، قال: ثنا سعيد، عن قتادة، قوله: ( وَاصْبِرْ عَلَى مَا يَقُولُونَ وَاهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلا ) براءة نسخت ما ههنا؛ أمر بقتالهم حتى يشهدوا أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا رسول الله، لا يقبل منهم غيرها.
