His statement: wa-annā ẓanannā an lan nuʿjiza llāha fī l-arḍi ("And that we knew that we could not escape Allah on the earth"). He says: and that we knew with certainty that we cannot escape Allah on the earth, were He to will us harm, wa-lan nuʿjizahu haraban ("and that we will not escape Him by flight"), were He to seek us out and were we to wish to flee from Him. Thus did they describe Allah as having power over them, wherever they might be.
