Tafseer of Noah · Nooh · 71:27

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا۟ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا فَاجِرًۭا كَفَّارًۭا

Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.

    Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning His statement: Mijn Heer, laat op de aarde van de ongelovigen geen enkele bewoner over — by Allah, he did not call against them until the revelation came to him from heaven: dat niemand van jouw volk zal geloven behalve wie reeds geloofd heeft. Only then did the prophet of Allah, Nūḥ, call against them and say: Mijn Heer, laat op de aarde van de ongelovigen geen enkele bewoner over (truly, if You leave them, they will lead Your servants astray and will bring forth only a wicked one, an obstinate unbeliever). Then he directed to Him a general supplication and said.

    حدثنا بشر، قال: ثنا يزيد، قال: ثنا سعيد، عن قتادة، في قوله: رَبِّ لا تَذَرْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا أما والله ما دعا عليهم حتى أتاه الوحي من السماء أَنَّهُ لَنْ يُؤْمِنَ مِنْ قَوْمِكَ إِلا مَنْ قَدْ آمَنَ فعند ذلك دعا عليهم نبي الله نوح فقال: رَبِّ لا تَذَرْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ( إِنَّكَ إِنْ تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلا يَلِدُوا إِلا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا) ثم دعاه دعوة عامة فقال.
