And to the 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?"

The explanation of His statement: وَإِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلا تَتَّقُونَ (65) ("And to ʿĀd [We sent] their brother Hūd. He said: O my people, worship Allah, you have no god other than Him. Will you then not be God-fearing?") (7:65)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: And indeed, We sent to ʿĀd their brother Hūd — and this is why "Hūdan" stands in the accusative (naṣb), because it is conjoined in coordination with "Nūḥ," peace be upon them both = Hūd said: O my people, worship Allah, and devote worship to Him alone, and set up no other god alongside Him, for there is no god for you other than Him = "Will you then not be God-fearing?", that is to say: of your Lord, so that you are on your guard before Him and fear His punishment for your worship of one other than Him, while He is your Creator and your Sustainer and none other than He is that.
