The explanation of His word: قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي ضَلالَةٌ وَلَكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (61) ("He said: O my people, there is no error in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds") (7:61)

Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: Nūḥ said to his people, answering them: O my people, I have not commanded you what I have charged you with — namely, keeping the oneness (tawḥīd) pure for Allah and devoting it to Him alone in obedience, without the partners and the idols — out of any straying on my part from the path of the truth, nor out of any wandering from the way of what is right. And there is not in me what you suppose of error, but I am a messenger to you from the Lord of the worlds, with that which I have commanded you: to devote yourselves to Him alone in obedience, to profess concerning Him the acknowledgment of the Oneness (waḥdāniyya), and to declare yourselves free of the partners and the idols.
