The discourse on the explanation of His statement: أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالاتِ رَبِّي وَأَنْصَحُ لَكُمْ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لا تَعْلَمُونَ ("I convey to you the messages of my Lord and I give you sincere counsel, and I know from Allah what you do not know") (62)
Abū Jaʿfar said: This is an announcement from Allah, exalted be His praise, concerning His prophet Nūḥ, peace be upon him, that he said to his people who were disbelieving in Allah (kāfir) and who denied him: وَلَكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ("but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds"), who has sent me to you. Therefore I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I give you sincere counsel by warning you against the punishment (ʿadhāb) of Allah on account of your disbelief (kufr) in Him, your denial of me, and your rejection of my counsel — وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لا تَعْلَمُونَ ("and I know from Allah what you do not know"), namely that His punishment is not averted from the criminal people.
