The statement concerning the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ (35) ("So today he has here no devoted friend (35)").

His saying: فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ ("so today he has here no devoted friend"); the Mighty, Whose praise is exalted, says: فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ ("so today he has"), and that is the Day of Resurrection, هَاهُنَا ("here"), He means: in the abode of the Hereafter, حَمِيمٌ ("a devoted friend"), He means: a close kinsman who defends him and comes to his aid against the calamity in which he finds himself.

As Yūnus related to me, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zayd said concerning His saying فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ ("so today he has here no devoted friend"): (al-ḥamīm means) the close kinsman in the language of the Arabs.
