Tafseer of The Pen · Al-Qalam · 68:37
Or do you have a scripture in which you learn

The statement concerning the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ (37) ("Or do you have a book in which you read?") (68:37).
He — exalted be His mention — says to the polytheists among Quraysh who ascribe partners to Him: Do you, O people, with your equating of the Muslims and the criminals in honor before Allah, have a book that has been sent down from Allah, which a messenger from among His messengers has brought to you, [with the content] that you shall get what you choose, so that you read therein what you say?
And just as we have said concerning this, so too have the exegetes (ahl al-taʾwīl) spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Yūnus related to me, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zayd said concerning His saying: أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ ("Or do you have a book in which you read?"). He said: therein is what you say; you recite it, you study it. And he recited: أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَابًا فَهُمْ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْهُ ("Or have We given them a book, so that they have a clear proof from it?") ... to the end of the verse.
