Tafseer of The Cattle · Al-An'aam · 6:126
And this is the path of your Lord, [leading] straight. We have detailed the verses for a people who remember.

The discourse on the explanation of His statement: وَهَذَا صِرَاطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ ("And this is the path of your Lord, straight. We have set forth the signs in detail for a people who take heed") (6:126)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: And this, which We have set forth in detail for you, O Muḥammad, in this sūra and in other sūras of the Qurʾān, that is the path of your Lord. He says: the way of your Lord, and His religion which He has chosen for Himself as a religion, and which He has made straight, without any crookedness in it. So hold fast to it, and declare forbidden what He has forbidden you, and declare permitted what He has permitted you. For We have indeed set forth in detail the signs and the proofs concerning the truth and the correctness of it. "For a people who take heed," He says: for whoever remembers that with which Allah has argued against him in the way of signs and lessons, so that he takes heed thereby. And He singled this out for "those who take heed," because they are the people of discernment and understanding, and the possessors of intellect and excellence. And it has been said: "yadhdhakkarūn" ...................... (illegible)

And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

13883 — Muḥammad ibn Saʿd related to me, saying: my father related to me, saying: my uncle related to me, saying: my father related to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His statement: "And this is the path of your Lord, straight": thereby He means Islam.

Presumably he wished to explain the assimilation of the tāʾ into the dhāl in "yatadhakkarūn," but this was afterwards dropped, whether by himself or by the copyist, and dots were placed in its stead, although its omission does no harm.
