The statement concerning the interpretation of His saying, the Exalted: ذَلِكُمُ اللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَاعْبُدُوهُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ ("That is Allah, your Lord; there is no god but He, the Creator of all things. So worship Him, and He is Guardian over all things") (6:102)
Abū Jaʿfar said: The Exalted, whose mention is exalted, says: The One Who created all things and Who is All-Knowing of all things, that is Allah, your Lord, O you who set up alongside Allah gods and idols, and who make the jinn associates of Him, and your gods which can bring neither benefit nor harm, and effect neither good nor evil. "There is no god but He."
And this is a repudiation on the part of Allah, whose praise is exalted, against those who claimed that the jinn are associates of Allah. The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says to them: O you ignorant ones, indeed, divinity and worship belong to none except the One Who created all things and Who is All-Knowing of all things. It is therefore not fitting that your worship, and the worship of all who are in the heavens and on the earth, should belong to anyone other than Him, purely, without an associate that you assign to Him therein. For He is the Creator of all things, their Originator and their Maker, and it is the duty of that which is made to single out its Maker alone with worship. "So worship Him," He says: Submit yourselves to Him with obedience, worship, and service, and bow down humbly before Him thereby.
"And He is Guardian over all things," He says: And Allah is, over all that He has created, a Watcher and Keeper; He provides all things with sustenance and food, and undertakes their governance, their ordering, and their disposal, by His power.
