Tafseer of The Iron · Al-Hadid · 57:7
Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you successors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great reward.

The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: Believe in Allah, O people, and so acknowledge His oneness and His Messenger Muḥammad ﷺ; hold him, therefore, to be truthful in what he has brought you from Allah, and follow him. وَأَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا جَعَلَكُمْ مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ ("and spend of that over which He has made you successors"). The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: and spend of that which Allah has entrusted to you, of the wealth which He has caused you to inherit from those who were before you, so that He has made you their successors therein, [spending] in the path of Allah.
In accordance with what we have said about this, the exegetes have spoken.
* Mention of those who said that:
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us, both on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning the word of Allah مُسْتَخْلَفِينَ فِيهِ ("made successors therein"); he said: those to whom life therein has been granted along with sustenance.
And His word: فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَأَنْفَقُوا ("So those among you who believe and spend"). He says: Those of you, O people, who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and have spent of that which Allah entrusted to them from those who were before them, and with which He provided them of wealth, in the path of Allah, لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ ("for them is a great reward"). He says: for them is a tremendous reward.
