The statement concerning the explanation of His saying, the Exalted: a-fa-raʾaytum al-māʾa alladhī tashrabūn ("Have you then seen the water that you drink?") (56:68)
The Exalted, glorified be His mention, says: have you then seen, O people, the water that you drink — is it you who sent it down from the clouds above you to the floor of the earth, or is it We who send it down for you?
And in accordance with what we have said regarding the meaning of His saying al-muzn (the clouds), the scholars of exegesis have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both of them — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning his saying: mina al-muzn, he said: the clouds.
