His statement: وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَةٍ ("and raised couches") — the Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: and therein they have raised, lofty couches, one above another, just as one says: a raised structure.
Like that which Abū Kurayb related to us, saying: Rishdīn ibn Saʿd related to us, on the authority of ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, on the authority of Darrāj Abū al-Samḥ, on the authority of Abū al-Haytham, on the authority of Abū Saʿīd, on the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, concerning his statement —
the explanation of the statement of the Exalted وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَةٍ ("and raised couches") — he said: "Indeed, their height is like that which lies between the heaven and the earth, and that which lies between the heaven and the earth is a distance of five hundred years."
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: ʿAmr related to us, on the authority of Darrāj, on the authority of Abū al-Haytham, on the authority of Abū Saʿīd, on the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَةٍ ("and raised couches") "By Him in whose hand my soul is, indeed their height..." — and then he mentioned the like of it.
