وَفَٰكِهَةٍۢ كَثِيرَةٍۢ

And fruit, abundant [and varied],

    The discourse on the explanation of His word, the Exalted: وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ ("And abundant fruit") (32)

    He says: وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ * لا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ("And abundant fruit, neither cut off nor forbidden"). He, exalted is His mention, says: and therein is فَاكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ ("abundant fruit"), of which nothing they desire is withheld from them at any time, as the summer fruits in the worldly life cease in the winter; and it is not withheld from them, nor does any thorn on its trees, nor its remoteness, stand between them and it, as the fruits of the worldly life are withheld from many who desire them by their remoteness on the tree, or by the thorn that is on their tree. Rather, when one of them desires it, it falls into his mouth or draws near to him until he seizes it with his hand.

    And in accordance with what we have said concerning this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.

    And we have already mentioned the report concerning that earlier, and we mention here another part of it:

    Muḥammad ibn Bashshār related to us, saying: Sulaymān related to us, saying: Abū Hilāl related to us, saying: Qatāda related to us, concerning His word: لا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلا مَمْنُوعَةٍ , he said: no thorn and no remoteness withholds it from him.

    القول في تأويل قوله تعالى : وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ (32) يقول (وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ * لا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ) يقول تعالى ذكره: وفيها(فَاكِهَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ ) لا ينقطع عنهم شيء منها أرادوه في وقت من الأوقات، كما تنقطع فواكه الصيف في الشتاء في الدنيا، ولا يمنعهم منها، ولا يحول بينهم وبينها شوك على أشجارها، أو بعدها منهم، كما تمتنع فواكه الدنيا من كثير ممن أرادها ببعدها على الشجرة منهم، أو بما على شجرها من الشوك، ولكنها إذا اشتهاها أحدهم وقعت في فيه أو دنت منه حتى يتناولها بيده. وبنحو الذي قلنا في ذلك قال أهل التأويل. وقد ذكرنا الرواية فيما مضى قبل، ونذكر بعضا آخر منها: حدثنا محمد بن بشار، قال: ثنا سليمان، قال: ثنا أبو هلال، قال: ثنا قتادة، في قوله: (لا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ) قال: لا يمنعه شوك ولا بعد.
