And His statement وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ ("And We have certainly made the Qurʾān easy for remembrance") (54:17). The Exalted — exalted is His mention — says: and We have certainly made the Qurʾān easy, clarified it and expounded it for remembrance, for whoever wishes to be admonished, to take a lesson, and to be warned, and We have made it light.

As Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to us, he said: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, he said: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, he said: al-Ḥasan related to us, he said: Warqāʾ related to us — both of them — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His statement يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ, he said: We have made it light.

Yūnus related to me, he said: Ibn Wahb informed us, he said: Ibn Zayd said, concerning His statement وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ, he said: "We have made easy" means: We have clarified.

And His statement فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ ("Is there then anyone who will be admonished?"). He says: is there then anyone who takes a lesson and is warned, who admonishes himself and thereby takes a lesson from the warnings and the admonition contained therein?

And some have explained that as follows: is there anyone who seeks knowledge or good, that he may be helped therein? And that is, in meaning, close to what we have said, but we chose the wording that we used in its explanation, because that is the most evident of its meanings in its apparent sense.

    * Mention of who said that:

Bishr related to us, he said: Yazīd related to us, he said: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatāda, concerning He says: is there anyone who seeks good, that he may be helped therein?

Al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī al-Ṣudāʾī related to us, he said: Yaʿqūb related to us, he said: al-Ḥārith ibn ʿUbayd al-Iyādī related to me, he said: I heard Qatāda say, concerning the statement of Allah فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ: is there anyone who seeks good, that he may be helped therein?

ʿAlī ibn Sahl related to us, he said: Ḍamra ibn Rabīʿa or Ayyūb ibn Suwayd, or both of them, related to us, on the authority of Ibn Shawdhab, on the authority of Maṭar, concerning His statement وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ, he said: is there anyone who seeks knowledge, that he may be helped therein?
