And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep

And His words "and that it is He who makes one laugh and makes one weep" (53:43): The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: and that it is your Lord who makes the inhabitants of Paradise (janna) laugh in Paradise through their entering into it, and who makes the inhabitants of the Fire (al-nār) weep in the Fire through their entering into it; and He makes laugh whom He wills of the inhabitants of the world, and He makes weep whom He wills of them.
