The explanation of the statement of the Exalted: يَوْمَ لا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ (52:46) ("The Day on which their scheming shall avail them nothing, and they shall not be helped") (52:46).
The Exalted, whose praise is exalted, means by His statement يَوْمَ لا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا ("The Day on which their scheming shall avail them nothing") the Day of Resurrection, until they meet their day on which they are struck down. Then He clarified concerning that Day which Day it is, and said: The Day on which their scheming shall avail them nothing, that is to say: their plotting shall not ward off from them anything of the punishment of Allah. The second [mention of the] Day is thus a further clarification (tarjama) of the first.
And His statement وَلا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ ("and they shall not be helped"). He says: and no helper shall help them, so as to take retribution on their behalf against the one who punishes them and has chastised them.
