His word ( فَرَاغَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ ) ("Then he turned to his household"). He says: he slipped away to his household and returned. And al-Farrāʾ used to say: slipping away (al-rawgh), even though it has this meaning, one does not use it unless the one who does it conceals his going away or his coming. And he said: do you not see that you say: "the people of Mecca have slipped away (rāgha)," while you mean that they returned or departed; but if the one returning conceals his return, then "rāgha" and "yarūghu" fit it well.

His word ( فَجَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَمِينٍ ) ("and came with a fattened calf"). He says: he came to his guests with a fattened calf which he had roasted and cooked through.

Bishr related to us, saying: Yazīd related to us, saying: Saʿīd related to us, on the authority of Qatādah, concerning His word ( فَرَاغَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَجَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَمِينٍ ) ("Then he turned to his household and came with a fattened calf"), he said: the greater part of the property of the prophet of Allah Ibrāhīm, peace be upon him, was cattle.
