And His statement ( Have they not then looked at the heaven above them, how We have built it and adorned it ) (50:6). The Exalted, whose praise is mentioned, says: have these deniers of the resurrection after death, who deny Our power to bring them back to life after their decomposition, not then looked ( at the heaven above them, how We have built it ) and made it as a well-guarded roof, and adorned it with the stars ( and it has no rifts ): that is to say, and it has no cracks or fissures.
And in accordance with what we have said about this, the people of interpretation (ahl al-taʾwīl) have spoken.
* Mention of who said that:
Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr related to me, saying: Abū ʿĀṣim related to us, saying: ʿĪsā related to us; and al-Ḥārith related to me, saying: al-Ḥasan related to us, saying: Warqāʾ related to us — both of them — on the authority of Ibn Abī Najīḥ, on the authority of Mujāhid, concerning His statement ( rifts ), he said: a fissure.
Yūnus related to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us, saying: Ibn Zayd said, concerning His statement ( and it has no rifts ); I said to him, namely to Ibn Zayd: the rifts (al-furūj) are that whose parts are separated from one another? He said: yes.
