Tabari (1 passage)

  1. Full Dutch translation of Tabari's text

The statement concerning the interpretation of His word, the Exalted: إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْنَا الْمَصِيرُ ("Indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and to Us is the return") (43).

The Exalted says: indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and cause the living to die, and to Us is the return of them all on the Day of Resurrection. تَشَقَّقُ الأَرْضُ عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعًا ("on the Day when the earth splits open from above them and they hasten forth"), the Exalted, whose praise is exalted, says: and to Us is their return on the Day when the earth splits open. Thus the word "the Day" is connected to "return" (maṣīr).
