Explanation of the statement of the Exalted: الَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِي الْعَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ "He who set up alongside Allah another god — then cast him into the severe punishment!" (26)
The Exalted, whose remembrance is exalted, says: the one who associated partners with Allah (ashraka) and worshipped alongside Him another deity from among His creation — فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِي الْعَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ ("then cast him into the severe punishment") — He says: then cast him into the severe punishment (ʿadhāb) of Hell (jahannam).
