The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: يَا قَوْمَنَا أَجِيبُوا دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ وَآمِنُوا بِهِ يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ مِنْ ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُجِرْكُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ (O our people, respond to the caller to Allah and believe in him; He will forgive you a portion of your sins and save you from a painful punishment) (46:31).
The Exalted, whose remembrance is sublime, says, reporting about what this group of jinn (jinn) said: يَا قَوْمَنَا (O our people) of the jinn, أَجِيبُوا دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ (respond to the caller to Allah). They said: respond to the Messenger of Allah, Muḥammad, regarding that to which he calls you of obedience to Allah. وَآمِنُوا بِهِ (and believe in him). He says: and believe him in that which he has brought you, he and his people, of the command and prohibition of Allah, and in that other thing to which he has called you to believe in it. يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ (He will forgive you). He says: your Lord will cover for you a portion of your sins and conceal them for you, and will not disgrace you for them in the Hereafter by punishing you for them. وَيُجِرْكُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ (and save you from a painful punishment). He says: and He will save you from a painful punishment, if you repent of your sins and turn back from your unbelief (kufr) to belief in Allah and in His caller.
