And His statement ( وَمَنْ لا يُجِبْ دَاعِيَ اللَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍ فِي الأرْضِ — "And whoever does not respond to the caller of Allah cannot escape on earth"): He, exalted is His mention, says, reporting about what this group [of jinn] said to their people: and whoever of you, O people, does not respond to the Messenger of Allah — Allah's blessing and peace be upon him — Muḥammad, and does not respond to his caller toward that with which He sent him to call to — namely His oneness and acting in obedience to Him — ( فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٍ فِي الأرْضِ — "that one cannot escape on earth"). He says: he cannot render his Lord powerless by fleeing, when He wishes to punish him for his denial of His caller and his failure to hold him to be truthful, even if he goes about the earth fleeing, for wherever he is, he is within His dominion and within His grasp. ( وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ دُونِهِ أَولِيَاءُ — "and he has no protectors besides Him"). He says: and whoever does not respond to the caller of Allah has no helpers besides his Lord who would help him against Allah when his Lord punishes him for his disbelief in Him and his denial of His caller.
And His statement ( أُولَئِكَ فِي ضَلالٍ مُبِينٍ — "They are in manifest error"). He says: these who did not respond to the caller of Allah, such that they neither held him to be truthful, nor that to which he called them — the oneness of Allah and acting in obedience to Him — are in a deviation from the straight path, and have taken a way that is not straight. ( مُبِينٍ — "manifest"): He says: it is manifest to whoever reflects upon it that it is error and the taking of a way that is not straight.
