And it will be said, "Today We will forget you as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours, and your refuge is the Fire, and for you there are no helpers.

The explanation of the saying of the Exalted: وَقِيلَ الْيَوْمَ نَنْسَاكُمْ كَمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَاءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ نَاصِرِينَ ("And it will be said: This Day We forget you as you forgot the meeting of this Day of yours; and your abode is the Fire, and for you there are no helpers") (34).
He — exalted is His mention — says: and it will be said to these unbelievers (kuffār) whose attribute He has described: this Day We leave you behind in the punishment of Hell (jahannam), just as you neglected to work for the meeting with your Lord on this Day of yours.
As ʿAlī related to me, saying: Abū Ṣāliḥ related to us, saying: Muʿāwiya related to me, on the authority of ʿAlī, on the authority of Ibn ʿAbbās, concerning His saying ( وَقِيلَ الْيَوْمَ نَنْسَاكُمْ ): We leave you behind. And His saying ( وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ ) says: and your abode to which you betake yourselves is the fire of Hell (jahannam). ( وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ نَاصِرِينَ ) says: and for you there is no rescuer who rescues you this Day from the punishment of Allah, and no helper who takes up your cause against the one who punishes you, so that he might rescue you from it.
