The explanation of the statement of the Exalted: قُلِ اللَّهُ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لا يَعْلَمُونَ ("Say: Allah gives you life, then He causes you to die, then He gathers you on the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt; but most people do not know") (26).

He — exalted is His mention — says to His Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ: Say, O Muḥammad ﷺ, to these polytheists (mushrikīn) who deny the resurrection and who say to you: "Bring our forefathers to us, if you are truthful": Allah, O polytheists, gives you life as long as He wills that you live in the worldly life, then He causes you to die therein when He wills, then He gathers you on the Day of Resurrection. He means that He gathers you all together, the first of you and the last of you, the small of you and the great of you ( إلى يوم القيامة ) — He says: for the Day of Resurrection, that is to say that He gathers you all alive for the Day of Resurrection. ( لا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ) He says: there is no doubt about it. He says: so do not doubt it, for the matter is as I have described it to you. ( وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لا يَعْلَمُونَ ) He says: but most people, who deny the resurrection, do not know the truth of this, nor that Allah will bring them back to life after their death.
